Bulgaria Benefits Most From EU Funds In 2009
The announcement was made by the head of the European Commission mission to
Bulgaria, Dimitris Kourkoulas. Kourkoulas and Bulgarian Finance Minister Plamen Oresharski signed seven memoranda for co-operation on the ISPA programme.
Bulgaria would receive 6.6 billion euro from structural funds between 2007 and 2013, Kourkoulas said. The projects that will receive funding are in the fields of the environment and transport. Their total value reaches 183.220 million euro. From the total, 133.197 million euro will be received from EU aid.
Bulgaria has to co-finance the projects, providing the remaining 19.148 million euro. More funds for the projects would be received through loans by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
